The Vision
A tower. Centuries of history.
The tower came before the château.
Before the grand 17th-century facades, before the park, before the drawing rooms, there was a fortified farm. And at the corner of that farm, this tower. It already appears on the earliest cadastral maps of the region, a small stone sentinel in a landscape that had no name yet.
Its twin didn’t make it. A few stones remain on the ground, barely visible under the grass. Two towers, one fate: one fell, one is still standing.
The Boullet children learned to read here. The family who built the château used this tower as a schoolroom, and it’s easy to picture those winter mornings, light coming through the narrow windows, a voice spelling out words. Generations grew up within these walls.
Today the slate is falling apart, the chimney stacks are crumbling, water is getting in. There are two options: watch the second tower follow its sister into the grass, or do something about it.
‘We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors — we borrow it from our children. This tower is our promise to the future of this place.’
"Where others saw ruins, we saw a rebirth."
Nestled in the heart of the Loire Valley, Château Poséidon stands as a living testament to French history. Its walls, towers, and grounds bear witness to centuries of life, grandeur, and — in recent decades — gradual neglect.
Today, the Association of the Friends of Château Poséidon is working to protect and revive this unique heritage. Made up of passionate volunteers and supporters of historic preservation, the association is leading an ambitious restoration campaign focused on one of the estate’s oldest landmarks: the historic 17th century tower standing beside the château.
Long before the château itself was expanded, this tower watched over the land. Generations lived, learned, and grew within its stone walls. But time has taken its toll — the roof is collapsing, the masonry is falling apart, and water has destroyed all of the wood flooring.
To prevent this piece of history from disappearing forever, a public fundraising campaign is now underway. Every donation helps secure the structure, restore the roof and preserve the tower for future generations.
More than a restoration project, this is a collective mission to save a part of French heritage — stone by stone.

Frequently Asked Questions
Your questions
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Donations are collected by the Association des Amis du Château Poséidon (a non-profit organisation under French Law of 1 July 1901, RNA W364004383), a legally independent entity from SAS POSEIDON, the company that operates the estate commercially. They are allocated in full to the restoration of the Tower. As the Association does not hold “general interest” status under French tax law, donations are not eligible for income-tax reduction.
How will my name appear?
Your name or pseudonym will be entered in the permanent online register, along with your dedication. Depending on the tier, your initials will appear on a slate or a brick, or your name will be included on the builders’ plaque.
When will the work start?
Restoration work on the tower is scheduled to begin as soon as the fundraising target is reached. We will keep you updated via our social media channels and our newsletter.
Can I make a donation from abroad?
Yes, HelloAsso accepts payments by international credit card.
